Effective Tips and Tricks for Facing the Mid-Semester Exam (UTS)!
Without realizing it, we have been through half a semester of college activities with full struggle. By taking this mid-semester exam, we test ourselves about the understanding that we have learned during the half semester. Below are tips and tricks for facing the mid-semester exam effectively, as follows.
1. Prepare yourself physically and mentally before facing the mid-term exam.
Make sure to get enough rest, eat healthy foods, and stay physically active. Also, avoid excessive stress by doing meditation, light exercise, or other relaxing activities.
2. Re-study the previous lecture materials
By re-studying the materials from previous lectures, we can remember the material that has been delivered, so that we are ready to answer the questions during the exam.
3. Don’t use the overnight cram system
The overnight cramming system is a learning method or process to catch up on something. This system is carried out the night before an exam, assignment submission, or the last day of an activity. It is not recommended to study exam materials with an overnight cramming system because it can interfere with concentration and health. So that you cannot answer the question sheets optimally during the exam.
4. Pray before the exam
Here is a prayer for those who are Muslim:
قَالَ رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي
وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي
وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسَانِي
يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي
“rabbisyraḥ lī ṣadrī wa yassir lī amrī waḥlul ‘uqdatam mil lisānī yafqahụ qaulī”
Meaning: “O my Rabb, expand my chest, and lighten all my affairs, and remove the stiffness from my tongue, so that they understand my words.” (QS. Thaha: 25-28).
Starting everything with prayer is a form of surrender to Allah SWT so that what is done can bring benefits. So is facing an exam. There is nothing wrong with praying before the exam, with the hope that Allah SWT will give ease and smoothness when working on the questions.
The power of prayer is considered very powerful because no matter how great the effort is, if it is not accompanied by prayer, it will feel less certain.
