History of Telkom University Jakarta

Telkom Jakarta Academy (2002)

The process of forming Akatel cannot be separated from the education of Telkom Sandhy Putra Jakarta Vocational School (now Telkom Jakarta Vocational School) in 1992 and took place at the Telkom Slipi plaza. In 2000, Telkom Jakarta Vocational School officially moved to Jalan Daan Mogot, Cengkareng-West Jakarta.

The process of establishing Akatel Jakarta at that time was not easy, many personnel were involved in preparing the files from both internal and external campuses. The contribution of Telkom Academy Purwokerto lecturers and Telkom Jakarta Vocational School teachers contributed to the establishment of Akatel Jakarta. In early 2002 the documents for establishing Akatel Jakarta were submitted and not long after, on May 13 2002, the Sandhy Putra Jakarta Telecommunications Engineering Academy officially became one of the private universities in West Jakarta with one study program, namely Diploma of Telecommunications Engineering.

Telkom Jakarta Institute of Technology (2021)

ITTelkom Jakarta was established on June 2 2021, in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, number 232/E/O/2021. ITTelkom Jakarta is a transformation of the Sandhy Putra Jakarta Telecommunication Engineering Academy or more commonly known as the Jakarta Telkom Academy or Akatel Jakarta, which has been operating since 2002.

ITTelkom Jakarta was founded based on the ideals of the academic community as formulated in its vision statement, namely to become an international standard higher education institution based on Information and Communication Technology with a focus on applications in the fields of creative industry, digital economy and entrepreneurship to support increasing the competitiveness of the Indonesian nation.

Telkom University Jakarta (2023)

Based on the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, number 115/E/O/2023 on January 25 2023, the Telkom Institute of Technology Jakarta Campus became part of Telkom University. Unification of the Telkom Jakarta Institute of Technology to Telkom University to increase institutional capacity while realizing the aspirations of the academic community and other stakeholders to add color to the implementation of the tridharma of higher education and future innovation in the application of Technology, Information and Communication (ICT) in the creative industry, digital economy ( digital economy), and entrepreneurship.
