New Students Must Know! Here Are Some Tips for Facing Your First Lecture
Today, Monday, September 17, is the first lecture to be held at Telkom University Jakarta for the 2024/2025 academic year. After previously new students carried out the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) which is a mandatory program for all new students for the past 4 days. With this activity, new students are in the process of becoming mature and independent students, accelerating the process of students adapting to the environment. After going through the process of introducing campus life, it is time to change the status of high school students to students. This will certainly have an impact on learning habits. In order to start your first lecture well, here are some tips for you new students to start your first lecture well:
- Prepare Yourself Mentally and Physically
Make sure you get enough rest before the first day. Going in good physical and mental condition will help you focus better.
- Bring Stationery or Laptop and Important Materials
Bring books, notes, or laptops and other stationery. Also prepare important documents such as Student ID Card (KTM) and class schedule.
- Get to Know the Campus
If possible, arrive early to explore the campus. Find out where lecture halls, libraries, and other facilities are so you don’t end up in the wrong class.
- Meet New Friends
Don’t hesitate to interact with your classmates. Building a network early on can be very helpful in college.
- Note Important Information
During lectures, take notes on important information delivered by the lecturer, including materials, exam schedules, and other announcements.
- Set Learning Goals
Set personal goals for your studies, such as what grades you want to achieve or what skills you want to develop. Starting with good grades will make it easier for you to go through the next semester.
- Keep a Positive Attitude
Although you may feel anxious about the change in learning methods, try to stay calm and think positively. This is a new beginning and many opportunities await!
- Ask a Question
If there is anything unclear, do not hesitate to ask. This can show your interest and help better understanding.
- Create a Study Plan
After class, create a study plan for each subject. This will help you stay organized and divide your time between class and other activities.
- Joining a Student Organization
