Tel-U Jakarta Student Selected as Leader of Google Developer Student Club 2023
Citra Dewi Fortuna, a Bachelor of Information Technology student at Telkom University Jakarta, was selected as leader of the Google Developer Student Club 2023. By joining GDSC forums, students can expand their knowledge in a peer-to-peer learning environment and build solutions for local businesses and their communities. GDSC is a community that bridges students to develop technical skills and encourages collaboration between other students who are interested in developing technology so that they can solve problems and challenges that are developing in society.
Undergoing a long struggle to compete with hundreds of applicants throughout Indonesia, of course Citra has prepared everything to be able to become leader of Google Developer Student Club (GDSC). Apart from preparing yourself academically, you also have to build your image networking with friends outside campus to share experiences to provide knowledge for selection, especially material related to technology development.
The courage to register for the GDSC selection emerged when Citra entered college in semester 4. The registration process for Google Developer Student Clubs activities begins with filling out an online form according to the requirements, making a profile video in English, and a letter of recommendation from the campus. After that, candidates are selected from all applicants who send complete requirements. The interview process was carried out online by the Google Developers team with questions about leadership, technical skills and programming skills. Citra was finally selected as the leader of the Google Developer Student Club 2023 and was able to qualify together with 87 other students from various universities throughout Indonesia.
The inauguration of the leader of Google Developer Student Club 2023 will be held 29 September 2023 – 1 October 2023 at Google Office Indonesia. It doesn’t stop there, Citra must take part in several activity programs that will be implemented by Google, such as weekly classes with learning materials and workshops according to the curriculum from the Google Center and directly guided by Googlers and Developer Experts. Apart from learning activities and workshops, they also carry out company visits to IT companies to get an overview of the world of work in the IT sector. They also take part in competitions held by Google on an international scale such as the Google Solution Challenge where they are asked to solve problems in the technology-based environment.
“Don’t be afraid to try because luck happens when opportunity meets readiness. “You can be insecure, but use insecurity as a trigger to upgrade yourself in a better direction,” said Citra.
